Carlile Transportation is a certified SmartWaySM Partner. SmartWaySM is an initiative of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency working to reduce greenhouse gases and other air pollutants and improve fuel efficiency. This voluntary partnership means that Carlile is achieving air quality benefits by meeting specific environmental criteria set in the SmartWaySM Transport Partnership Agreement.
Additional clean commitments include:
- Carlile owns and operates the first heavy-duty hybrid tractor at the Port of Tacoma terminal
- The use of 32 alternative power units in operation, saving approximately 50 gallons of fuel per week
- Qualcomm Sensortracs monitoring system tracks vehicle and driver behavior related to fuel consumption, speed, idle time and engine revolutions
- Proudly awarded membership into the SmartWay Transport Partnership in September 2008
- Awarded membership in Alaska’s Green Star program in 2008
- Newer, more efficient vehicles are used in daily operations in Anchorage and Tacoma
