The packaging of a product is an important factor in it's transportation.
Proper packaging will protect the product from the elements and make handling
the shipment faster and easier. Many claims for damage are the result of
improper or inadquate packaging. Following are some guidelines for good
packaging:
When possible, heavy bulky items should be palletized for improved handling.
Cartons can be secured to a pallet with banding, shrinkwrap, or breakaway
adhesive.
When palletizing a shipment, ensure that cartons are stacked squarely, with no
overhang.
Cartons should be completely full with product and packing material.
