Founded in 1980 by brothers John and Harry McDonald, Carlile trucking grew from just two tractors to one of Alaska’s largest trucking & shipping logistics companies. In 1985, they made their first haul to Prudhoe on the Dalton Highway. In 2013, Carlile was acquired and became a part of the Saltchuk family of businesses. In 2026, Carlile combined with Naniq Global Logistics, extending services into Hwaii. Today, 46 years later, Carlile has over 350 tractors and offers a full range of transportation and shipping logistics services across Alaska, Hawaii, and the Lower 48.

Carlile is based in Anchorage, AK, and employs 925 people. The wholly-owned shipping terminals serve Alaska from Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai, Kodiak, and Prudhoe Bay, as well as Tacoma, WA, Houston, TX, and Edmonton, AB. In Hawaii, the company operates as Naniq, Powered by Carlile, with warehousing in Kapolei and air cargo gateways in Honolulu, Kailua-Kona, Kahului, and Līhuʻe.
