What is MyConnect?

The problem is that a lot of retailers don’t ship to Alaska. MyConnect is the solution. Carlile MyConnect allows you to ship purchases to an address in the lower 48. From there, your packages get forwarded to a Carlile package pick-up terminal in Alaska that’s conveniently located near you. Then you just pick it up. It’s really that easy to ship to Alaska.

How It Works:

With MyConnect, you get a special Lower 48 shipping address to use for your purchases. This allows retailers to ship their items to Carlile’s Tacoma, WA terminal. Your shipments will then be forwarded to Alaska so you can pick them up at a Carlile terminal near you.

The Carlile MyConnect Process in 3 Easy Steps

Having your orders shipped to Alaska is simple and easy. In fact, there are really only three steps to the process:

  1. You shop like normal, adding the items you want to your cart and checking out as usual.
  2. At checkout, you’ll enter our Tacoma shipping terminals’ information with your MyConnect number in the address field and your order is sent there.
  3. Once your order is shipped to the Carlile Tacoma terminal it will be forwarded to the Alaskan package pick-up terminal that you selected. Once it has arrived, you will receive a notification that your freight is available, and you can schedule your pick up appointment.

Can this service only be used for online purchases?

No, you can shop by phone or catalog and have your retail packages forwarded to Alaska as well. You can even have friends, family or businesses drop off your shipment directly to our terminal.

Wherever you purchase from, make sure to use the special MyConnect shipping address (including your MyConnect customer ID) in Tacoma, WA rather than your Alaska address.

Can I ship used items or household goods?

No. Carlile processes the packages as they come in from the various carriers such as UPS/FEDEX or other carriers. Once the packages are received they are given a Carlile Freight Bill number to be able to be tracked in the Carlile system. These packages are then available to be loaded into various trailers going to Alaska.

Some of your packages depending on when they arrived and the inbound carrier delivering them, can be loaded into different trailers to move across the water.

How do I estimate my shipping costs for forwarding packages to Alaska?

What shipping address do I use to have my packages sent to Alaska?

How and when do I pay for my shipment?

You will receive a notification via email and/or text message once your items have been received. We’ll then confirm your package forwarding charges based on verified packaging dimensions.

Next, you will log in to MyConnect to pay for your shipments. You can pay for your shipment any time before you pick it up.

Where and when can I pick up my shipments that were forwarded to a Carlile Terminal in Alaska?

Shipments can be picked up during business hours at your designated MyConnect pick-up terminal.

Yes, you can use the appointment management tool in your customer dashboard to schedule or manage your pickup appointments.

Can someone else pick up my package for me?

Yes. To authorize someone else to pick up your package on your behalf, please schedule a pick-up appointment in your customer dashboard and make a note of the name of the person who will be picking up on your behalf.

How Do You Handle Fragile or Special Care Items?

Carlile’sMyConnect, is capable of handling a wide range of items, including fragile and special care products. We leverage an integrated air, sea, road, and rail service, ensuring that items, even delicate ones, are transported safely and securely to Alaska.

Are There Any Size or Weight Limitations for Packages?

MyConnect caters to a variety of shipping needs, from small boxes to larger items like furniture, equipment, and even recreational vehicles like snow machines. If your shipment is larger than 8 feet (96 inches) in any dimension, please reach out to Carlile’s Quotes team for a custom quote for your shipment.

Is additional coverage available for my shipment to Alaska?

Standard Liability Limits Included

The maximum liability on your shipment to Alaska will be $20.00 per pound up to a maximum of $200,000 per shipment for new goods. Household goods and used goods will have a maximum liability of $0.10 per pound up to a maximum of $5,000 per Alaskan shipment. Update with new BOL.

Increased Liability Limits Available

Additional coverage beyond Carlile’s limits of liability is available and can be added when completing your shipment in MyConnect. Simply provide a declared value and additional coverage charges can be added to your order. To add declared value to your shipment please contact Carlile Customer Service (Mailto link for customerservice@carlile.biz)

The maximum liability on the shipment to Alaska will be increased up to the declared value, not to exceed $200,000 per shipment.  In no case will the declared value exceed the replacement value of the goods.

 

 

Additional Coverage Available

Additional coverage beyond Carlile’s standard liability coverage is available and can be added when completing your shipment in MyConnect. Simply provide a declared value and additional coverage charges can be added to your order.

The maximum declared value per shipment is $10,000 and can be purchased at a rate of $1.00 per $100.00 of declared value. A receipt/invoice/proof-of-value will be required for any claim to be paid.  If no value is declared then the standard liability of $100.00 per shipment applied.

What are some of the items that I can have forwarded to Alaska?

What items are prohibited from being forwarded to Alaska via MyConnect?

The following items are prohibited and will not be accepted for MyConnect shipments to Alaska:

  • Firearms
  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco
  • Drugs, including prescription drugs, illegal drugs and substances, drug paraphernalia, controlled substances
  • Human remains
  • Temperature-controlled and perishable goods, including live animals, fresh food or perishable items, items that must be kept from freezing (e.g., chemicals, pharmaceuticals)
  • Counterfeit, stolen or fraudulent goods, live plants and soil,
  • Valuable goods, including currency, jewelry, museum exhibits or antiques. Artwork, postage stamps, or other articles of extraordinary value or inherently fragile items.
Can I ship Hazardous Materials via MyConnect?

Yes you can. Please refer to Section 7 of the MyConnect Terms & Conditions for Hazardous Material shipping requirements.
